Priya abstract vloerkleed beige

The abstract rugs in the Houseify collection are hand-knotted or hand-woven. The flowing colour gradients and shapes are created during the weaving process, meaning that each piece is slightly different.

Usually wool, sometimes combined with cotton for strength or viscose to give the coloured panels a subtle sheen. The exact material composition is listed for every product on Houseify.

Yes, if you opt for muted, similar colours without strong contrast. An abstract pattern in shades that are close to one another looks more soothing than a rug with bright blocks of colour.

Vacuum the rug regularly, following the direction of the pile, on a low setting. Blot stains immediately with a damp cloth and a drop of pH-neutral wool detergent. Leave thorough cleaning to a professional rug cleaner.

Yes. In an open-plan home, an abstract rug visually separates the seating area from the dining or kitchen area, without the need for a physical wall.

Over the years, dyed wool will fade slightly when exposed to direct sunlight for long periods. Turn the rug half a turn regularly to ensure the colour gradients remain even.

That depends on the thickness and pile height. Wool is a natural insulator, which means that heat transfer may be slightly lower than on an uncovered floor. Check whether the underfloor heating manufacturer permits the use of rugs.

Choose one colour from the rug and incorporate it into a cushion or a piece of art. Keep the rest of the room neutral, so that the rug remains the most striking feature.

Yes, the free-form shapes and colours stimulate the imagination. Choose a rug with a thick, soft pile for comfort whilst playing, and place a non-slip mat underneath it.

A vintage abstract rug has been used before and is usually several decades old. The colour gradients have become softer and more layered than on a new rug, due to wear and exposure to light.

Use a non-slip mat made of felt or rubber that is slightly smaller than the rug, so that the edges do not curl up. A non-slip mat prevents the rug from sliding on smooth floors and protects the floor from wear and tear.
