Beautiful hand-knotted rugs with stunning Moroccan-style motifs. Traditional Moroccan style with black, cream, dark blue, dark red, khaki, light blue, olive, and salmon accents. Imported from Morocco and crafted using the finest weaving techniques. Hand-knotted and made of 100% wool with a base of 100% cotton. 8 feet 2 inches by 11 feet 2 inches (250cm x 340cm)

Berber is geen apart land van herkomst, maar een weeftechniek: geknoopt met een hoge pool. Een Marokkaans vloerkleed is de bredere term voor alle vloerkleden uit Marokko, waaronder Berber tapijten, maar ook platgeweven kelims. Elke Berber is dus Marokkaans, maar niet elk Marokkaans vloerkleed is een Berber.
Bij Houseify wel. Onze Marokkaanse vloerkleden worden geknoopt of geweven door Berberstammen in het Atlasgebergte, niet machinaal geproduceerd. Dat is te herkennen aan lichte variaties in patroon en afmeting, en aan de afwerking van de achterkant en de franjes.
Een Marokkaanse kelim is een van de twee hoofdtypen Marokkaans vloerkleed, naast Berber. Een kelim is platgeweven zonder pool, dunner en dubbelzijdig te gebruiken. Een Berber is geknoopt met een dikke, zachte pool.
Vooral uit het Atlasgebergte: de Midden-Atlas (Beni Ouarain, Beni Mguild), de Hoge Atlas (Azilal) en de Beni Mellal-regio (Boujaad). Elke regio heeft een herkenbare eigen stijl in kleuren en symbolen.
Een handgemaakt kleed kost weken tot maanden weeftijd, tegenover minuten voor een machinaal tapijt. De prijs weerspiegelt dat handwerk, de kwaliteit van de wol en het feit dat elk kleed uniek is in plaats van een van duizenden identieke exemplaren.
Ja. Een deel van ons assortiment bestaat uit vintage vloerkleden, waaronder oudere Beni Ouarain exemplaren. Deze kleden zijn 20 tot 80 jaar oud en dragen zichtbare sporen van gebruik en tijd, wat ze een extra authentiek karakter geeft.
