1. Our starting point
Our rugs are handcrafted by people. Houseify respects fundamental human rights as set out in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) and the Core Labour Standards of the International Labour Organization (ILO), in particular:
- C029/C105 - prohibition of forced and compulsory labor;
- C138/C182 - prohibition of child labor and the worst forms thereof;
- C087/C098 - freedom of association and collective bargaining.
2. In our chain
We purchase through our NL-based intermediaries, who are responsible as an EU market participant and our primary link with the weavers in Morocco. We expect this intermediary to:
- does not employ or tolerate child labor or forced labor in the production chain;
- ensures safe and healthy working conditions;
- applies fair remuneration and reasonable working hours.

3. Chain due diligence
The EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) requires larger enterprises to conduct systematic due diligence in their value chain. At its current size, Houseify does not directly fall under this obligation, but we apply the same principles voluntarily – as good business practice and in support of our Origin & transparency-commitments.
4. Our own people
Our employees work in a safe, healthy, and respectful environment in accordance with the Dutch Working Conditions Act (Arbowet). See also Equal opportunities & non-discrimination.
5. Signals and reports
If we receive indications that human rights are being violated in our supply chain, we will immediately enter into dialogue with the party concerned and take appropriate measures, up to and including termination of the collaboration.
