Where our rugs come from<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Houseify verkoopt een brede collectie <a href=\"https:\/\/houseify.com\/product\/khalid-beni-ouarain-vloerkleed-multicolor\/\">handgemaakte vloerkleden<\/a> en tapijten uit landen met een rijke traditie in ambachtelijk tapijtweven:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Morocco<\/strong> - <a href=\"https:\/\/houseify.com\/product\/karim-boujaad-vloerkleed-multicolor\/\">Berber-kleden<\/a> handgeknoopt door wevers in het Atlasgebergte<\/li><li><strong>Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, Turkey<\/strong> - traditionally hand-knotted and hand-woven rugs<\/li><li><strong>Argentina<\/strong> - handmade wool rugs<\/li><li><strong>China<\/strong> - machine-made and handmade rugs<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each handmade rug is the work of human hands\u2014a craft passed down through generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. From producer to living room - our chain<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Houseify werkt samen met in Nederland gevestigde tussenpartijen die direct in contact staan met de producenten. Deze tussenpartijen zijn de verantwoordelijke marktdeelnemers onder de GPSR (EU 2023\/988) en ons primaire aanspreekpunt voor <a href=\"https:\/\/houseify.com\/beleid\/productveiligheid\/\">productkwaliteit, veiligheid<\/a> en arbeidsomstandigheden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Our chain:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Producers \/ weavers<\/strong> - in the countries of origin above<\/li><li><strong>Dutch-established intermediaries<\/strong> - importer and responsible EU market operator (GPSR Art. 16)<\/li><li><strong>Houseify<\/strong> - sells the rugs to consumers in the Netherlands and the EU<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We do not disclose supplier names to protect competitively sensitive information. In the event of a serious request in the context of a government inspection or legal dispute, we will cooperate in providing access.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Our claims, honestly substantiated<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>EmpCo guideline<\/strong> (EU 2024\/825, applicable ~September 2026) prohibits vague or unsubstantiated sustainability and origin claims. We already apply this standard prior to its entry into force and only make claims that we can substantiate:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><thead><tr><th>Claim<\/th><th>Substantiation<\/th><\/tr><\/thead><tbody><tr><td>\u201cHandmade\u201d<\/td><td>Production process documented by country of origin; demonstrably handcrafted<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/houseify.com\/beleid\/productinformatie\/\">Natural materials<\/a>&#8220;<\/td><td>Fiber composition listed per product (wool, jute, cotton, bamboo silk, viscose, recycled cotton)<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>\u201cTraditional craft\u201d<\/td><td>Documented weaving techniques by region (hand knot, hand weaving)<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We do not use invented quality marks or unbacked certifications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. Transparency about what we do not (yet) know<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We do not have direct control over every step in the chain. We rely on our Dutch intermediaries as the primary link and expect them to comply with our <a href=\"\/beleid\/leveranciersgedragscode\">Supplier Code of Conduct<\/a>.
